Calcium Chloride is essential for adjusting the calcium hardness in your pool. Proper calcium levels are crucial for preventing both surface damage and scaling issues.

Why Calcium Hardness Matters:

Too Little Calcium: Can lead to the dissolution of pool surfaces like tiles and cement, causing potential damage.

Too Much Calcium: Can cause scaling on pipes, valves, pumps, and particularly on heat exchange equipment.

Recommended Calcium Levels:

Ideal calcium levels typically range between 100 and 500 parts per million (ppm), varying based on your pool type:

Adjusting Calcium Levels:

To Increase Calcium Hardness: Adding 1 kilogram of Calcium Chloride will raise the calcium level by 90 ppm in 20,000 liters of water.

To Decrease Calcium Hardness: Add fresh water with low calcium content. For existing high calcium levels, use a scale control product to manage excess calcium.

Calcium Hypochlorite Users: Be aware that this sanitiser adds calcium to your pool. Check your water supply’s hardness with your local water provider. If you notice scale build-up in your kettle, your water supply likely has high calcium levels.
